VISITING PLEASANT PLAINS
Visiting a church for the first time can be a difficult experience, but it doesn't have to be. At Pleasant Plains you will have a friendly, vibrant atmosphere for your whole family. From the moment you first step in the door, you'll experience the friendly people, vibrant music, and stirring teaching and preaching that makes Pleasant Plains feel like home. Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.
WHO WE ARE
Pleasant Plains Baptist Church was first started in 1914 on Pleasant Plains Road off of Old US 1 and have been ministering to the Apex and New Hill area ever since. We are an Independent Baptist Church which means that we can function around what God says without any denominational ties all while following Baptist doctrinal distinctives. You can know that at Pleasant Plains both the presentation of God's Word and any moneys given are always used to further the gospel and not follow a hierarchical agenda. Preaching messages are direct, practical and enjoyable times to examine what God has for us in His Word.
When are your services?

How do I get to Pleasant Plains?
We are off of Old US 1 (Salem St.) just past the 540 Toll road towards New Hill. See the map below for more info.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You won't be able to miss our entrance near the future Pleasant Park. As you enter the lobby one of our friendly hospitality greeters will direct you and your family to the right classes or services.
If you arrive at 10:00, you will enjoy our Life Groups, a time to fellowship and learn God's Word with others in your peer group. Children's classes meet downstairs while adult classes meet upstairs, but a greeter can show you where to go if needed. For the 11:00 service, you will enjoy the beautiful and inspiring special music and congregational music followed by a clear and challenging message from God's Word by Pastor Utley. Services are typically a little bit over an hour.
What do I wear?
Dress comfortably. We're more concerned with meeting your needs than focusing on what you wear. God's word says that "man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." God is more interested with our character than our dress, so how can we as the church of God do any different? Many of our members wear their "Sunday best" on Sunday Morning to show the importance of gathering together to worship God, but we only ask that you be modest and appropriate in what you choose to wear to worship.
What do I bring?
A Bible will help you follow along in both worship and Bible Study. If you have a Bible, bring it with you. If you don't have a Bible, we have copies in the lobby free of charge. We use the King James Version for our preaching and teaching so that would be best to help you follow along, but if you don't have a King James, bring what you have.
Give us a call at (919) 290-3050 and we'd love to help you out however we can!
How can I know for sure I'm going to heaven?
Realize that you are a sinner. The Bible says, "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) Every human has sinned.
Understand that the penalty for sin is spiritual death. The Bible states that "the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) All men die physically, but not all men die spiritually. You can be born again through Jesus Christ and be saved from eternal Hell, a place of "fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)
Realize that Jesus died to pay our debt of sin. The Bible says that "Christ died for our sins." (I Corinthians 15:3) Jesus paid the entire price for your sin through His death on the cross.
Understand that "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) God freely offers you His gift of eternal life. The gift is yours by believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the price of your sin, then rose again three days later and lives in Heaven today and receiving him personally as your personal Savior (John 1:12).
"Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) "Whosoever" means anyone, including you! If you by simple faith will trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your soul's salvation, you can be 100% sure that you are going to Heaven. Nothing else will do -- not church membership, not baptism, not confirmation, not communion. The Bible does not say that any of these can save you (Ephesians 2:8-9). Only Jesus can.
If you accept Christ, we would love to know so we could rejoice with you and give you some information for your ongoing spiritual growth.
